It is very important that you begin the Visa application process as soon as you are accepted.
 
Ongoing Make Travel Arrangements  You should plan to arrive at SSU several days before the mandatory orientation program for new international students. More information on getting to SSU can be found on our website.

Submit Transfer In Form

Students transferring from a U.S. institution should fill out and submit the International Student Transfer Form
September 15-December 5

Submit mandatory immunization records

All entering students must send copies of official immunization records to the SSU Office of Admissions and Records showing they have received the required 2 dose series of Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR) vaccine to the SSU Office of Admissions and Records prior to enrolling at SSU. Those who will be under age 19 on January 22, 2018 must also send records showing they have received the required series of 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine. Compliance is a mandatory condition of enrollment and should be completed no later than December 9, 2017. Students unable to locate immunization records may send copies of blood test results confirming immunity to the diseases prevented by the required vaccines.

Students who do not comply with this pre-enrollment requirement on time will have a Hold on their ability to register for classes and are subject to other late compliance penalties. Compliance is a mandatory condition of enrollment and must be completed prior December 9, 2017. 

Note: The CSU system is revising immunization requiements to include additional vaccines as recommended by teh U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Apply for Housing

International students can apply for campus housing once they have been accepted to the University. To apply for campus housing, go online to the ResidentWeb to create an application and pay the $300 Housing Down Payment.
Housing down payment does not guarantee a space or specific assignment. Housing is in high demand and space fills quickly. A waitlist will be started once housing is full.

Refund Information: 50% refundable if requested in writing by December 15, 2017; non-refundable thereafter. Read more @ Housing

Take Placement test(s)

We strongly encourage you to take your English Placement Test (EPT) and/or Entry Level Mathematics Test (ELM) as early as possible. Your letter of admission explains which test you may be required to take.

Testing Services offers ‘Local Scoring’ sessions the weekend prior to the start of every Fall and Spring semesters. The Local Scoring of the MATH (ELM) Entry Level Math exam will provide the score for placement purposes.

The register portal online is at the following address: https://ept-elm.ets.org/CSU/. ETS.org can be contacted for any questions regarding registration procedures at 1-925-808-2142. The EPT/ELM placement exams are administered by all the CSU system-wide campuses and can be taken at any available CSU site.

International Students can request testing accommodation in one’s country for an additional fee. International Students use the same registration procedures. Please select the 'Out of State' option available. Once the registration process is complete, Educational Testing Services (ETS) will contact the International Students to set up a testing venue to take the exams in the local area, if possible.

Accept campus housing offer

Campus housing offers are sent electronically on a space available basis. In order to accept your offer, you will also need to submit a $300 Housing Down Payment by the designated deadline. Housing Down Payment does not guarantee a specific assignment. Refund policy: 50% refundable if requested in writing by December 15, 2017; non-refundable thereafter. Read more at Housing
November 13-December 29

Register by appointment

Spring 2018 registration appointment dates & times will be available in November. Watch your SSU email for specific dates and instructions. See Registration Announcements for more information.
January

Purchase health insurance

Health insurance must be purchased prior to your enrollment at SSU.  You can read more about this requirement on the Center for International Educaiton website. Step-by-step instructions on how to regist for health insurance can be found here. Please register online at CSUHealthLink.com
January 1

Submit payment for mandadory registration charges

You must pay your mandatory registration charges by January 1, 2018. Even if schedule changes are planned, you must complete the registration process by paying the mandatory charges or an automated disenrollment process will occur.

Note: The Seawolf Service Center will be closed from December 25 - January 1. Mailed payments received during the holiday closure will be considered "on time". If paying by phone, do so before the closure. The online payment system will be open throughout the holiday closure.

January 10

Submit final transcripts

Your offer of admission is contingent upon you meeting the specific admissions requirements outlined on your admission letter. It is mandatory that your official final transcripts and/or test scores are received in the Office of Admissions by January 10, 2018. Failure to submit your final documents by the deadline will void your offer of admission. In the event that final documents are not received by January 10 a hold will be placed on your account preventing further registration activity. Request that all your Official Transcripts be mailed to:

Scholarship material due

Scholarships range from $250 to $5,000 per year. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater to apply for this program. Read more @ SSU Scholarships

January 18-February 2 Late Registration Need to adjust your schedule? Spring 2018 open registration/add/drop dates & times will be posted on Registration. You can still register during the late registration/add/drop period. Be sure to pay any associated student charges/fees no later than February 3; registration is not complete without final registration payment. Make payment @ MySSU
