Impacted Majors

Kin Class

There are several impacted majors at both the first-time freshman and transfer level. Impacted majors are programs that have more students interested in applying than that program has space to accommodate. If you are interested in an impacted program, please carefully review the additional admissions requirements to confirm if you are eligible.

Freshmen Transfers

Notice of Changes to Impaction

Sonoma State University plans to end impaction for transfer (ADT/UDT) students and would begin admitting transfer applicants at the CSU minimum effective Fall 2020. In addition, Sonoma State University’s RN to BSN program plans to change impaction criteria as defined in the table below.

Sonoma State proposes these changes to impaction to serve the students in our region and to meet the CSU goal of serving the transfer students in the North Bay. The institution is committed to creating opportunities for more transfer students to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Some degree programs remain impacted at the major level. Degree specific impaction information is available for freshmen and for transfer students.
