Spring 2025 - Important Dates

Welcome International Students! We are very pleased that you have been accepted to Sonoma State.

The information below are important steps in the process for international students to attend Sonoma State University.

August - November 1

Submit your Enrollment Reservation Deposit (ERD)

You can accept your offer of admission by logging into your MYSSU and selecting your "Stay on Track"

As Soon As You Have Your Visa Document (I-20)

Apply for a VISA

It is very important that you begin the VISA application process as soon as you receive your I-20, F-1 visa document.
Prior to enrollment Submit mandatory Immunization records  Please review your immunization requirements and submit the proper documentation as prompted on the Health Center website. 
November - January

Attend Mandatory Noma Nation Orientation and register for courses.

All undergraduate students are required to attend a new student orientation. Noma Nation Orientation is where you will learn about campus departments and resources, be advised about general education and major requirements and register for courses.
January

Complete the mandatory online International Student Pre-arrival Course

You will be required to attend an online International Student Pre-Arrival Orientation Course which covers all of the important information you need to know in order for you to have a successful start in your program. You must complete this course prior to your arrival to Sonoma State.   Please visit the International Education website for information regarding the mandatory orientations. Katie O'Brien, International Student Advisor, will be sending you and email with more detailed information.

December Submit International Transfer form Students requesting a SEVIS transfer from another school in the US must fill out and submit the Transfer In Form for F-1 Students.

Purchase Health Insurance

Health Insurance must be purchased prior to your arrival in the US.

Make travel arrangements

You should plan to arrive at SSU several days (but no more than 30 days) prior to the mandatory on campus international orientation.  Visit our Getting to SSU webpage for more information.

January 10

Submit  final transcripts

Your offer of admission is contingent upon you meeting the specific admissions requirements outlined on your admission letter. It is mandatory that your official final transcripts and test scores (evaluated by a 3rd party evaluation service) are received in the Office of Admissions by January 10, 2025. In the event that final documents are not received by January 10, 2025, a hold will be place on your account preventing further registration activity. Open Registration

Need to adjust your schedule? Spring 2025 late registration/ add/drop dates and times will be posted on the academic calendar

Move-in Weekend

Residents living on campus will move into the residential community. International students are able to move into their on-campus accommodations the week prior to classes starting so they can attend the mandatory international student orientation. If early arrival housing is needed contact international@sonoma.edu. Read more about living on campus at SSU at the Housing website.
January Attend mandatory On-Campus International Student Orientation

Our On-Campus International Student Orientation generally takes place right before school starts and brings together all international students from all programs as well as our National Student Exchange students. We offer a campus tour, activities to get to know your fellow students and support staff as well as a review of important information for your programs. Please visit the International Education website for information regarding this event. Katie O'Brien, International Student Advisor, will be sending you more detailed information.

January 21 First day of Instruction Classes begin! Confirm your schedule and payments for spring 2025 through MYSSU.
January Late registration

You can still register during the add/drop period. Be sure to pay any associated student charges/ fees.

January - February Submit payment for student registration fees You must pay your mandatory registration charges. Even if schedule changes are planned, you must complete the registration process by paying the mandatory charges or an automated disenrollment process will occur.  Learn how to pay your SSU tuition and fees.
February 1 Sonoma State General Scholarship material due (for academic year 2025-2026) Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000 per year. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater to apply for this program. Learn more about SSU scholarships
