Apply for a VISA

It is very important that you begin the Visa application process as soon as you accept your admissions.
Ongoing Make Travel Arrangements  You should plan to arrive at SSU several days before the mandatory orientation program for new international students. More information on getting to SSU can be found on our website.

Submit International Transfer Form

Students requesting a SEVIS transfer from a school in the U.S. should fill out and submit the International Student Transfer Form

Submit mandatory immunization records

All incoming new students are required to submit immunization documentation to the SSU Student Health Center through the My Health Portal tile on their My SSU Online Services Portal. This must be completed at least 6 weeks prior to the start of each student’s first semester of classes at Sonoma State University. Students who do not meet this deadline are subject to conditional enrollment and other late compliance penalties. Students are able to access their My Health Portal once they have paid their SSU Enrollment Reservation Deposit.

Apply for Housing

International students can apply for campus housing once they have been accepted to the University. To apply for campus housing, go online to the ResidentWeb to create an application and pay the $300 Housing Down Payment.
Housing down payment does not guarantee a space or specific assignment. Housing is in high demand and space fills quickly. A waitlist will be started once housing is full.

Refund Information: Housing downpayment is 50% refundable if requested in writing by June 15, 2020; non-refundable thereafter. Read more @ Housing

Accept campus housing offer

Campus housing offers are emailed on a space available basis to the email address provided when you applied. In order to accept your offer, you will also need to submit a $300 Housing Down Payment by the designated deadline. Housing Down Payment does not guarantee a specific assignment.

Register by appointment

Fall 2020 registration appointment dates & times will be available in April. Watch your SSU email for specific dates and instructions. See Registration Announcements for more information.

Purchase health insurance

Health insurance must be purchased prior to your enrollment at SSU. Please read the health insurance purchase information and fill out the health insurance plan enrollment form. The form should be faxed to (707) 664-2613. Please also register online at CSUHealthLink.com

Submit payment for mandatory registration charges

You must pay your mandatory registration charges by July 10, 2020. Even if schedule changes are planned, you must complete the registration process by paying the mandatory charges or an automated disenrollment process will occur. See our website for more information on how to pay your tuition and fees. 
July 10

Submit final transcripts

Your offer of admission is contingent upon you meeting the specific admissions requirements outlined on your admission letter. It is mandatory that your official final transcripts and/or test scores are received in the Office of Admissions by July 10, 2020. Failure to submit your final documents by the deadline will void your offer of admission. In the event that final documents are not received by July 10 a hold will be placed on your account preventing further registration activity. Request that all your Official Transcripts be mailed to:

Scholarship material due
(For Academic Year 2020-2021)

Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000 per year. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater to apply for this program. Read more @ SSU Scholarships

Mandatory orientation

Please visit Center for International Education for information regarding the Mandatory Orientation. You will receive an email with instructions for orientation along with your admission.
 
August 15-16

Move-in Weekend

Residents living on-campus will move into the Residential Community. Read more at Housing.

Need to adjust your schedule? Fall 2020 late registration/add/drop dates & times will be posted on the Academic Calendar 

Be sure to pay any associated student charges/fees no later than August 10 registration is not complete without final registration payment. Make payment @ MySSU

Aug 19 - Aug 31 Late Registration You can still register during the add/drop period. Be sure to pay any associated student charges/fees no later than August 31; registration is not complete without final registration payment. Make payment @ MySSU
