First-Time Freshmen & Transfer Students
Next steps once you've applied:

  1. Check your email account for an automated application reciept.  It will be sent to the email address you used on your application.  If you don't get it with 48 hours of submitting your application, check your spam folder.  If for some reason you didn't receive that email, or accidentally deleted it, see the sample message linked below.

  2. Get your Seawolf account username and password by going to the Online Services PIN Master.  Your Seawolf account will be used for SSU email, and access to a variety of campus services.
  3. Login to Online Services and click MySSU to track your application status.  See PDF instructions linked below.
  4. Login to MySSU weekly to check your application status to make sure all necessary documents have been submitted and your application is complete. Only completed applications are reviewed for admission determination.

Application Review Process

Please Note:  Only complete applications are reviewed for an admission determination.  If your file is deemed incomplete or if any documents are needed we will post this request in your MySSU.

Failure to adhere to the requirements will void the processing of your application.

First-Time Freshman Applicants

Sonoma State will process applications on a rolling basis (in the order received) starting in December. Our goal is to notify all applicants of an admission decision by  the end of March.

  1. Submission of Fall term application to Sonoma State University.
  2. Payment of the $55 application fee. If you are paying by check or money order, it is due 30 days from your application submission date.  
  3. First time freshman applicants are reviewed on self-reported information on the application. No official transcripts are required at this time. In the event that documents are required please check MySSU (Login to Online Services and click MySSU) on a weekly basis starting in December.
  4. SAT or ACT test results are required and the test(s) must be taken no later than December and test results must be received by February 1st.
  5. If you have Advanced Placement (AP) and /or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test(s), be sure to submit one official set of scores by July 10th.

An Important Reminder

In the event that Sonoma State University receives a large volume of applications, priority will be given to our local service area students.  Local service area will be determined based on address, county of residence and last college or university attended.  All applications will be processed based on first choice major; alternate majors will not be considered. 

Applications for Fall 2017

  1. Submission of Fall term application.
  2. Payment of the $55 application fee. If you are paying by check or money order, it is due 30 days from your application submission date.
  3. One official transcript from every college and /or university attended must be received by the due date indicated in your To-Do List.
  4. Please check MySSU on a weekly basis starting in December to see if your file is complete and ready for review.  Any needed documents will be posted to your To-Do List and it is your responsibility to submit these documents.
  5. If you are a U.S. Veteran a copy of your DD214 is needed.
  6. If you have Advanced Placement (AP) and /or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) test(s), be sure to submit one official set of scores by July 10th.
