Who Can Apply for the WUE Scholarship?

WUE is open to Sonoma State applicants, freshmen and transfer, who are residents of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) states: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.

WUE Eligibility Requirements

  • No additional application is necessary.
  • Meet all admissions and enrollment requirements
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate, 12 units or more each semester.
  • Maintain non-resident status of California for tuition purposes 
  • Pre-Nursing/Nursing majors are not eligible for WUE status
  • Must be new, incoming student; current SSU students are ineligible

Renewal Criteria

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate, 12 units or more each semester
  • Maintain non-resident status of California for tuition purposes
  • Participation in the WUE Scholarship program limited to five (5) years

WUE Cost of Attendance

Academic Year 2024-2025*

  • Resident Tuition & Student Fees: $8,624
  • Non-Resident Tuition** & Student Fees: $21,224
  • WUE Rate(Resident x 150%): $11,666
  • WUE Savings: $9,558

*Tuition fees are based on 15 units per term. All CSU fees listed are estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the CSU Board of Trustees.
